Dr. Chalabi is a former Deputy Secretary General of the Organization, serving from 1978-89. He was also Acting Secretary General during 1983-88.
Dr. Chalabi is also a former Undersecretary of Oil at Iraq’s Ministry of Oil.
Dr. Chalabi has published numerous academic articles about the industry over the years. He is the author of several books about the oil industry, including Oil Policies, Oil Myths: Observations of an OPEC Insider, published by I.B. Tauris in 2010.

The Secretary General of OPEC, H.E. Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo, received OPEC veteran Dr. Fadhil J. Chalabi at the OPEC Secretariat in Vienna on Friday.
