About the Committee

The Appeals Committee of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is mandated to review and decide on appeals to decisions taken by the Secretary General of OPEC, when appeals are submitted by a Staff Member, a former Staff Member or his/her successors, if applicable.

The Members of the Appeals Committee shall be nationals of OPEC Member Countries or the Organization’s host country. No two Members of the Appeals Committee shall be nationals of the same country. Due regard shall be given to geographical distribution and gender balance whenever possible.


The Registrar of the Appeals Committee is appointed by the Secretary General.

The Registrar of the Appeals Committee is responsible for administrative matters of the appeals. The Registrar also assists the Appeals Committee  in procedural legal issues. The Registrar shall be subject only to the authority of the President of the Appeals Committee.
