Information Clerk

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has a vacancy based in Vienna, Austria, for an Information Clerk (Maternity Leave Replacement for 1 year and 3 months approximately) in its Information Center/Data Services Department.


Main Responsibilities:

  1. Registers physically & electronically all incoming mails including journals and process them as appropriate.
  2. Distributes all journals received electronically by email on a daily basis.
  3. Maintains loan records, including issuance of publications as well as periodic recall of books, pamphlets and journals.
  4. Assists staff, delegates, and authorized visitors with queries and usage of the library equipment.
  5. Records journals returned from circulation; displays and shelves them as appropriate.
  6. Assists Information Assistant with journal collection maintenance, including updating of all manual records of periodical holdings, handling archive storage and selecting journals for binding, shelving, and discarding.
  7. Shelves journals, books and pamphlets returned from loans.
  8. Obtains through Inter-library loans within and outside Austria literature not held in the OPEC Information Center.
  9. Carries out any other tasks assigned by the relevant superiors as pertain to his/her background, qualifications and position.


Requirements:

  • Secondary School certificate
  • 2 years of work experience (with a minimum of 1 year in a library)

Offer:

Commensurate remuneration package i.e. monthly basic salary of (€2,819 x 12 per year) with tax-free benefits and six-week annual leave.
