Secretary (Research)

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has a vacancy based in Vienna, Austria, for Secretary (Research) in the Data Services Department.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative and secretarial services such as recording, distributing and following up incoming requests and other communication;  drafting and typing letters, memos, emails, reports and other documentation; proofreading documentation; updating and creating new templates for routine memos, forms, etc.; customizing various macros; maintaining files;  keeping appointment schedules; preparing and following up requisition slips; preparing tax forms; keeping records of budgetary matters and checking invoices; photocopying.
  • Scrutinizes electronic data subscriptions (OECD, IEA, IMF and Platt’s) and ensures that CD-ROMS, etc., are paid and received on time.
  • Assists in resolving general computer problems and MS-Word Basic.
  • Administers and instructs at in-house computer training courses.
  • Services meetings and carries out ad hoc tasks as assigned.
  • Carries out any other tasks assigned by the relevant superiors as pertain to his/her background, qualifications and position


  • Secondary School certificate plus special courses
  • 3 years of work experience

Monthly basic salary of €3,370 x 12 per year, with tax-free benefits and six-week annual leave.
