Medical advisor

The OPEC Secretariat is looking for a committed and friendly General Practitioner to join our multicultural organization and care for the health and well-being of our Staff Members and their families.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Act as the medical advisor to OPEC, a consultant as well as a medical practitioner to its staff members and their families
  2. Examine, if requested, new staff members in respect to their fitness to work
  3. Ensure that medical reports submitted by staff members upon appointment meet the standards established by OPEC
  4. Prescribe medication for staff members and their family members
  5. Give vaccinations to staff members and their family members. In this regard, arrangements needed will be agreed by OPEC and the Medical Consultant
  6. Carry out medical tests whenever necessary and possible during the consultation time
  7. Advise staff members of the appropriate measures in case of health problems or epidemics
  8. Certify staff members’ inability to work for a certain period of time, after medical examination
  9. Check doctor’s certificates for sick leave provided by the staff members, if issued in Austria
  10. Serve as a member of the Invalidity Committee and Medical Contingency Committee whenever necessary, as prescribed in the Staff Regulations
  11. Advise OPEC, when requested, in securing adequate medical and health insurance cover for staff members and their dependents
  12. Give guidance for the establishment of emergency medical requirements at OPEC’s premises and assist it in acquiring such necessities
  13. Advise staff members planning to travel abroad in respect of specific prophylaxes/tropical medicine and arrange for inoculation accordingly as permitted
  14. Keep an updated of the confidential electronic medical files for OPEC staff members and their family members who visit him.

Languages: Fluency in English required.
Experience: WGKK an asset.

Monthly remuneration package of €2,700 (€150 per hour) based upon two consultations per week for two hours each. Contract validity of a period of initially one year.
