OPEC Secretary General meets with Speaker of Iraq’s Parliament

Baghdad, Iraq, 28 March 2018--The Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), HE Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo, and an accompanying delegation met with the Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, HE Salim Al-Jabouri, on Tuesday in Baghdad. The meeting was also attended by Iraq’s Oil Minister, HE Jabbar Ali Hussein Al-luiebi.

The Secretary General briefed the Speaker on the oil market outlook. He also described the efforts that led to the establishment of the ‘Declaration of Cooperation’ on 10 December 2016. HE Barkindo lauded the support Iraq had given to the Declaration and to its ongoing implementation.

Through the ‘Declaration of Cooperation’, production levels were voluntarily adjusted in joint efforts to reduce the stock overhang and bring about a return of market stability. The Declaration was signed by 24 OPEC and non-OPEC oil producing countries.
