OPEC's Annual Statistical Bulletin and World Oil Outlook for launch July 8, 2009

No 07/2009
Vienna, Austria
25 Jun 2009

OPEC’s 2008 Annual Statistical Bulletin (ASB) and the 2009 edition of the World Oil Outlook (WOO) will be presented at a press conference to be held at the OPEC Secretariat on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 15.00 hours, Vienna time (GMT+2). The public presentation will be made by the OPEC Secretary General, His Excellency Abdalla Salem El-Badri.

The ASB, now in its 44th year, brings together comprehensive statistical data about crude oil and natural gas activities in OPEC’s 13 Member Countries (Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, the Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela). It also provides detailed time-series data on other aspects of the global petroleum industry, including imports/exports, upstream/downstream activities, and exploration/production activities.

The WOO, first published in 2007, is an annual in-depth review and analysis of various scenarios for the short-, medium- and long-term development of the oil industry, covering both the upstream and downstream sectors. The publication is an important reference tool that critically analyses a wide range of key industry issues, such as supply and demand, investments, costs, policies and the environment. It maps out some of the challenges as well as opportunities in the industry.

To enable journalists and analysts to familiarize themselves with the two publications beforehand, PDF copies will be made available by email to all analysts and accredited members of the press on Monday July 6. The publications are to be embargoed until the official launch on July 8 at 15.00 hours.

Mr. El-Badri and other officials from OPEC’s Research Division will also be available to answer questions from those in attendance.

All journalists and analysts wishing to attend the public presentation are therefore advised to visit the OPEC website for accreditation.
