	Note: BP & Amoco and Exxon and Mobil were mergerd to create BPAmoco (name changed to BP in 2002) and
	ExxonMobil in December 1998 and November 1999 respectively.  Both data series have been adjusted
	to include the new companies from 1980.  TotalFina merged with Elf Aquitaine in February 2000 to create
	TotalFinaElf. The name was changed to Total on May 6, 2003. The data series has been ajusted to
	include Total up to 97, TotalFina 1999 and  the new company from 2000.
	Chevron & Texaco merged to create ChevronTexaco form October 2001. The name was further changed
	to Chevron in May 2005.  Chevron merged with Unocal in August 2005.
	Data include Companies's shares in all operations in which they have an interest
	1) Exploration and production.
	2) Chemicals only.
	3) Refining, marketing & transportation.
	4)including expenditures of majority owned and consolidated companies & acquisitons.
	5) Refining and marketing
	6) Original figures in French francs.and from 2001 onwards in Euros
	7) Including investment share in non subsidiary companies.
